Hello Governor Mifflin families,

As an integral part of our district’s Health and Safety Plan communications protocol, I provide the following advisory. Today, we learned that a student at Governor Mifflin Intermediate School has tested positive for COVID-19.

Here are the facts regarding this case that are appropriate to share:

  • The student is in sixth grade.
  • The student developed symptoms on October 2 and that was the last day the student attended school.
  • The student took at COVID-19 test on October 5 and we were made aware of the positive test result today.
  • We have sent a separate phone call and email to individuals who will be required to quarantine for 14 days.

In following our protocols, our district administrators are following previous guidance from the PA Department of Health. Our Operations Department has already begun deep cleaning the impacted classroom and any common areas. GMIS will reopen for students per its normal schedule on Tuesday, October 13 as Monday is a scheduled in-service day.

We thank you for your continued diligence in the daily practice of our Health and Safety Plan and the procedures within. We ask that you continue to provide daily health screenings before each school day.

Sincerely,

Dr. Steve Gerhard
Superintendent
Governor Mifflin School District
