Governor Mifflin Fall 2010 Community Aquatic Schedule WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 2010, 6:30-8 p.m. GM Intermediate School cafeteria
After September 8, late registrations will be accepted for any openings by calling the pool office at 610-775-5084, ext. 2. No early registrations will be permitted. Registration is open to residents of Governor Mifflin School District only. Non-residents may call the pool office after September 8 to check on the availability of any openings. Cash or checks, made payable to the Governor Mifflin School District, are accepted. To expedite the registration process, please visit the district web site at www.GovernorMifflinSD.org and click on "Athletics," then "Aquatics." Print out a copy of the emergency card found under "Forms and Publications," complete it and bring it with you to the registration. One registration card per person.
PRESCHOOL SWIM LESSONS - Levels 1, 2 and 3 Fee: Resident: $35, Non-Resident $50 Offered: Only offered during the summer months
The minimum age is four years and there is NO height requirement. Personal safety and rescue skills are included to help participants meet safety progress. Upon completion of the three levels of Preschool Aquatics, children should enter Learn-to-Swim at Level 3.
Preschool Level 1 -- No prerequisites; objective is to help children feel comfortable in the water and to have fun. Preschool Level 2 -- Build upon the skills learned in Level 1; children must have a Preschool Level 1 certificate or demonstrate completion requirements from Level 1. Preschool Level 3 -- Build upon the skills learned in Level 2; children must have a Preschool Level 2 certificate or demonstrate completion requirements from Level 2.
BEGINNER SWIM LESSONS - Levels 1, 2 and 3 Fee: Resident: $35, Non-Resident $50 Offered: Monday & Wednesdays, time TBA, p.m. September 20 - October 20, 2010
The minimum age is six years and there is NO height requirement for classes held at the Shillington Pool. Swimmers must be 48 inches tall for classes held at GMIS.
Learn-to-Swim Level 1 -- Introduction to Water Skills: No prerequisites; participants begin developing good attitudes about swimming and water safety, good swimming habits and safe practices in and around the water. Learn-to-Swim Level 2 -- Fundamental Aquatic Skills: Must have a Level 1 certificate; participants learn to float without support, continue to explore simultaneous and alternative arm and leg actions on the front and back to lay the foundation for future strokes. Learn-to-Swim Level 3 -- Stroke Development: Must have a Level 2 certification; participants learn the survival float, elementary backstroke, scissors kick, dolphin kick and front crawl; build on fundamentals of treading water; enter the water head first from the side of the pool.
ADVANCED SWIM LESSONS - Levels 4, 5 and 6 Fee: Resident: $35, Non-Resident $50 Offered: Monday & Wednesdays, time TBA, p.m. September 20 - October 20, 2010

The beginner class will work on fundamental aquatic skills. The intermediate class will work on stroke development.
