  • Learning Support (LS) program
  • Emotional Support (ES) program
  • Speech and Language Support (SLS)
  • Academic Enrichment Program (AEP)

Reading Support Programs

Students experiencing difficulties in reading may receive services through:

  • Reading RecoveryŽ
  • Title I
  • Early Intervention (Reading Success)

I Can Problem Solve (ICPS)

Brecknock teachers use this problem-solving dialogue technique throughout the daily activities in their classes.  Children learn that there is more than one way to view and solve a problem.  ICPS promotes appropriate social behavior and positive peer relationships.

Instructional Support Team (IST)

IST is a building-based team approach, designed to meet the needs of regular education students who are experiencing difficulty academically and/or behaviorally within the classroom setting.  Students may be referred by the classroom teacher, parent, or other concerned adult.  The IST teacher convenes a team meeting, including parents, to develop a plan to address the areas of difficulty.

Brecknock Elementary Student Assistance Program (ESAP)

The Brecknock Elementary Student Assistance Program (ESAP) identifies students who are experiencing barriers to learning and school success, and intervenes through referral to the appropriate school and community resources.

English As A Second Language (ESL)

English As A Second Language (ESL) classes are taught only at the Cumru Elementary School and are available for children whose first language is not English. Any K-3 student needing to take ESL classes would attend Cumru Elementary. ESL class times vary according to the need of each student.

Students Achieving Rigorous Standards (STARS)

An after-school remedial math program is offered quarterly to second- and third-grade students who demonstrate difficulty in learning math concepts.
