Community Info

The Governor Mifflin School District serves the boroughs of Kenhorst, Mohnton and Shillington, and the townships of Brecknock and Cumru. These five municipalities encompass over 40 square miles of southeastern Pennsylvania’s Berks County.

Major roads, such as the Pennsylvania Turnpike (exits 286 and 298) and Routes 176, 222 and 422, place the School District in an ideal cultural and recreational position. Philadelphia, the Poconos, New York City, the Jersey shore, Baltimore and Washington, D.C., are all within a three-hour drive.

All Governor Mifflin facilities and buildings are used by a variety of extracurricular community organizations, such as the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, church groups, local athletic clubs and associations, senior citizen events and more.

Community-Student Connection

In order to fulfill their graduation requirements, Governor Mifflin students must complete a self-designed graduation project that involves community service or career research. Students are encouraged to establish connections with community members in order to provide a service or learn more about the professional world.

An archive of highly successful graduation projects, with affiliated community partners, is available for download. To learn more about the graduation project requirements for students, click here.
