A well-balanced lunch is served daily in each of the district’s six schools. As mandated by the National School Lunch Program, each lunch offered includes five components: a protein meat or meat alternate, a grain, a vegetable, a fruit, and eight ounces of fat free or low-fat milk. There is a choice of entrees that are available each day, including both hot and cold selections. There are also three vegetable choices, a variety of fresh fruits and fruit juices to choose from, a “dessert” item, and a variety of cold milks. While at least five components are offered each day, your child may choose as little as three foods to complete a meal.
A meal must have 1/2 cup of fruit or vegetable to be a countable meal.

The mission of the Food and Nutrition Services Department is to provide a variety of appealing and nutritious foods in an environment that is respectful of each student’s needs and differences. Food Service employees will provide all students the opportunity to reach their maximum learning potential through healthy food choices.
KEY PROGRAM FEATURES

- Our menus comply with the new Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act and state and local wellness guidelines.
FREE AND REDUCED BREAKFAST AND LUNCH PROGRAMS
The Free and Reduced Breakfast and Lunch Programs are available for low-income families, which adheres to the National Breakfast and Lunch Program guidelines. Apply after July 1st of each school year. You may apply at any time if there are any income changes. If you have received a Direct Certification Letter for the 2016-2017 school year from the Food Service Director, you do not need to reapply.

Making it faster and easier for families to apply for free or reduced priced meals.
- Simply create a new account or sign in for an existing account and in a few short minutes your application will be submitted directly to the Food Service Director.
- You’ll receive a custom Pin # to enter and click that your application has been received.
- You’ll receive by mail a confirmation letter on your application results.

Do not apply until after July 1st for every school year. You may apply any time during the school year if there is any changes in your income.

All Mifflin schools all use a point-of-sale system. This technology allows us to provide debit accounts for purchases and increases the speed of food service to students. Money may be deposited into the account via cash or check. Parents are able to designate what the money can be used for: meals and a la carte items, or meals only.

POINT OF SALE
Governor Mifflin School District has a online option that allows you to monitor your children’s lunchtime expenditures and make payments with your credit card. It gives you the capability to view what your children have eaten over the last 30 days. This new program allows the parents to have control of your child’s daily purchases. Each child’s account statement is updated continuously so that the information is current. Payments will now be available the same day.
Any money left in your child(ren)’s account at the end of the school year will automatically roll over to the next grade/school building assignment. All accounts will follow your child(ren) until they graduate from Governor Mifflin. Upon graduation, any balances over $5.00 will be transferred to a sibling within the district or refunded by check to the parent/guardian.
SchoolCafé is available for making online deposits and to make the selections for the purchases that are allowed for your child’s meal account. You will also be able to use your credit card to make your deposits. There is a fee of $1.75 per deposit day. If you have more than one child in the District, the fee will be the same amount of $1.75. If you wish to transfer money from one child’s account to another, please contact Jenelle Himmelreich, Food Service Director at 610-775-5083 x 5554 or email email@example.com.
There is no fee to create and maintain your child’s accounts. You may view the purchasing history as well as be notified for low balances through email.
This technology allows us to provide debit accounts for purchases, and increases the speed of food service to students so they have more time to eat and converse. Parents enjoy the convenience of prepaying for their child’s purchases at whatever level they choose. The point of sale system also eliminates the overt identification of students who are eligible for free or reduced meal benefits.
The System allows you to pay in advance for meals and/or A la Carte items. Students still have the option to pay cash on a daily basis. We urge you to take full advantage of this system by placing money into your child’s account on a weekly, monthly, or annual basis. You choose the amount you want to deposit. Any money not spent by the end of school will be available for your child’s use the following school year. You may use the feature to receive a low balance notification. For proper notification of low balances, it is recommended to use $8.00 as the minimum balance so that you are notified in a timely matter

ParentOnline is now School Café
Exciting changes are here! First of all, we’d love to thank you for the opportunity to serve you and your family for so many years with ParentOnline. We are excited to introduce SchoolCafé, our new and improved portal to connect families to your local K-12 school nutrition. SchoolCafé is passionately developed and supported by PrimeroEdge, the same providers of ParentOnline – so don’t worry because you’re still in amazing hands! We’ve got the same great features (payments, alerts, etc.) that you’ve come to love along with some amazing new capabilities.
What about my existing ParentOnline account? If you have an existing ParentOnline account you DO NOT need to create a new account in SchoolCafé — sign in with the same username and password that you used in ParentOnline. Also, all of your existing students, balances, cards, configurations, and settings remain the same. We wanted to make sure that your transition from ParentOnline to SchoolCafé was simple and seamless. Note: You’ll also notice that previous ParentOnline references in emails, phone notifications, and bank statements will now reflect “SchoolCafé”.
So, it’s a new look for the web and app? Yes. We’ve updated our look and we’re providing a newer web experience that is refreshing for all devices. We have a new SchoolCafé app with the new and existing features for Apple and Android devices. If you have the previous ParentOnline app it will continue to work until 10/1/2016 when it will be decommissioned. So, please head over to the app store and download the new SchoolCafé app today. Again, if you have a previous ParentOnline account you can use that same account with SchoolCafé.
You said new features? Governor Mifflin School District provides online cafeteria menus on SchoolCafe’ website. This gives you the ability to view what is on the menu at your child’s school cafeteria and view nutritional/allergen information. There are also a bunch of cool interactive options as well for you to rate, favorite, and share what’s on the menu. If you do not see anything relating to menus after signing in don’t be alarmed — when we have everything updated, you will be able to use those additional features we’ll be sure to let you know. Note: Features relating to menus and menu item information (nutrition and allergens) is controlled by Governor Mifflin School District.
Serving the entire family with the introduction of student accounts SchoolCafé now allows student accounts. Students 13 and older can create accounts to view and interact with the school cafeteria menu. We’ve also created a cool new feature that allows students to connect to their cafeteria account to see their account balance and view their purchase history. Our students always want to know what their account balance is and now they can access their account balance at any given time, knowing what was on the menu for the day, and that it would be really cool to have their ID accessible on their phone. Note: This feature is controlled by your school district and they will choose to turn this on or off.
