Student Council

At GMIS we have a very active student council membership. Our council members are elected by their peers in September. Students interested in becoming a homebase representative must write a paragraph stating why they would like to represent their homebase. They are then elected through a secret ballot election. The characteristics of student council representatives are: a good citizen who follows school rules, a hard-working and diligent student, a person who cares about the community and school, and a friendly person who relates well with others. Our council members meet the first Wednesday of every month at 8:15 a.m. throughout the entire school year. Some of their duties include: attending all Student Council meetings, asking for the ideas and opinions of others in their homebase, informing the class what was decided at Student Council meetings, and involving others in Student Council activities. In previous years we have participated in various activities such as: Random Acts of Kindness, Disaster Relief, Pizza for Pennies with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Coats for Kids, and Daffodil Days for the American Cancer Society.
