The initial focus of Creative Design in 7th grade will be the basic drawing and design exercises and methods.  These are designed to help stregthen the right side of the brain. There will be an emphasis on developing many ideas, design awareness, making decisions and solving creative problems.  Furthermor, students will experiment with skills, techniques, media and styles in art.  Projects will be planned to help improve imagination, visualization, perceptual and spatial skills.  Creative problem solving projects in various styles will improve inventiveness, intuition and an appreciation for the many ways that ideas can be expressed.

There will be a great emphasis on the creative process - the need to focus and quiet your mind from distractions to help each individual do their own best work.  This creates an atmosphere that encourages all students to strive for excellence.  Good work habits are strongly encouraged in the hopes that each student will carry these habits to their other subjects and creative endeavors.
