CLUB DESCRIPTIONS 2nd Quarter 2008-2009
Reminder: Do not sign up for a new club if you are currently in Art Club, Animal Rescue League Volunteers, Drama Club, Model Car Club, Show Choir, Cancer Awareness, Back to the Future, Engineering in the City, K.A.R.E. or Yearbook Club. These clubs will continue into the 2nd quarter.
9 Week Clubs: Best Pals, Grades 7 & 8, Ms. Roach Come participate in activities with students with multiple disabilities. Help plan crafts, games and other fun activities. This is going to be a great learning experience!
BMX Challenge, Grade 7 & 8, Ms. Soloff/Mr. Evak BMX biking is best! Do the coolest trick or longest jump. Helmets and permission slips required. We will not be riding the first club day.
Bombardment - Girls Only, Grades 7 & 8, Mrs. Redcay Have fun and get a workout while playing a competitive game of Bombardment.
Boys Dodgeball, Grades 7 & 8, Mr. Jopp/Mr. Sowers Several variations of the game will be played in the gym. Everyone who signs up will be expected to participate.
Computer Game Club, Grade 7, Mr. Naugle Come and spend time on the computer doing what you want…games, email, music, etc.
Computer Game Club, Grade 8, Dr. Kemp Come and spend time on the computer doing what you want…games, email, music, etc.
Crafts, Grade 7 & 8, Mrs. Zaun Learn how to make various projects – things to wear, gifts and decorations for the holidays, and easy food preparations.
Dance, Dance Revolution, Grade 7 (Girls only), Mrs. Kenderdine If you like to dance, exercise and have fun then join the DDR club. All club members will actively participate during each song. Two people will complete and the rest will dance along with them. Please do not sign-up unless you plan to participate. You WILL sweat! Bring sneakers to club.
Football Club, Grades 7 & 8, Mr. Crills/Mr. Bratton This club is for anyone who wants to play football. You will be going outside (weather permitting) appropriate dress, hats, gloves etc., and sneakers are required to participate.
Game Board Club, Grades 7 & 8, Mr. Kellenberger If you enjoy playing games, you can sign up for this club!
Garage Band Afterhours, Grades 7 & 8, Mrs. Griffin Students in this club will create, record and re-mix digital music. No experience required!
Girls Fitness Club, Grade 7 & 8 (Girls only), Mrs. Eagle Interested in getting in better shape and losing a few pounds? This is the club for you. Have fun while exercising!
History Movie Club, Grades 7 & 8, Mr. Marsch Sit back, relax, and watch movies about past historical events.
Internet Club, Grade 7, Mr. Bausher/Ms. Rapchinski Explore various educational sites such as: science, math, geography, puzzles, and strategy games, etc.
Knitting for Beginners, Grades 7 & 8 (Girls only), Ms. Hinrichs/Ms. Guzowski Would you like to learn to knit a simple scarf? If so, come join us and learn the basics of knitting. Students will be required to purchase their own yarn and knitting needles. This club is for female students only.
Letters to Our Troops, Grades 7 & 8, Mrs. Marshall Would you like to brighten a service man’s or service woman’s day? Then sign up to write letters (not type) to our troops. You will be writing to men and women in an active war zone. You may not get a letter each month. Let’s support our men and women defending our nation! A $1.00 donation will be required to offset costs.
Marbles, Grades 7 & 8, Mrs. Tackack/Mrs. Panagacos Do you enjoy playing and/or collecting marbles? Would you like to learn more about this fun game? Join the marble club and learn how to play or if you already know how to play you can teach others!
Read and Relax Club, Grade 7, Mrs. McKnight Enjoy reading a favorite book, magazine, or the newspaper in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere.
Tie Dye Club, Grade 7 & 8, Mr. Horst Learn various techniques of tie dying. Students must bring their own fabric articles to dye, t-shirts, socks, scarves, etc. The dye will be supplied.
Yoga & Meditation Club, Grade 7 & 8, Ms. Lease Students will learn basic yoga philosophies and principles and practice yoga postures. Students will also learn breathing, relaxation and meditation techniques. Please wear comfortable non-revealing clothing in which you can bend AND move!
