Family and Consumer Science, in both seventh and eighth grades, is an introductory class in life skills. The purpose of this course is to encourage the student’s growth in the five areas of Family and Consumer Science: Foods and Nutrition, Human Development, Consumerism, Home Management, and Sewing and Textiles. By its very nature, the study of Family and Consumer Science allows for a variety of learning experiences. Class time is divided into lab experiences, demonstrations, lectures, discussions, group projects, and individual study experiences. The class meets three times in a six-day cycle for one semester.
