Beginning formal schooling in kindergarten is a big step in the life of a small child. At Governor Mifflin, we are committed to fostering a smooth transition from preschool and home environments to full-day kindergarten. Our Kindergarten Orientation program is designed to familiarize families with the Governor Mifflin schools, staff, and services.

To maximize their child’s successful transition to school, families should participate in one of their building’s Kindergarten Orientation programs in March. During this session, students will meet and get to know the kindergarten teachers.  They will listen to a story, color, and have the opportunity to play with their future classmates. These activities are designed to provide the kindergarten teachers with kindergarten readiness information specific to your child.  This time together with teachers will help us to develop the best class assignment for your child’s kindergarten year.

Parents, too, are active participants in the Kindergarten Orientation program. During the orientation session, you will meet with the building principal to learn about the school’s policies and procedures, and more about the exciting year ahead. Parents will meet their child’s kindergarten teacher and gather classroom-specific information on Back-to-School night in August.

We welcome you to the Governor Mifflin Family and look forward to seeing you in March!
