Academic Enrichment Program:
Gifted Services for Students in Grades 9-12
Governor Mifflin High School provides specially designed instruction and support services for eligible gifted students in accordance with Chapter 16 of the PA School Code. Eligible gifted students are those students who exhibit outstanding intellectual and creative ability. To further develop these abilities, specially designed programs and/or support services are provided to these students that are not ordinarily provided in the regular education program.
Students who are eligible can obtain college credits and credit for graduation simultaneously. Honors and AP courses are plentiful for those students who qualify. The AEP program for gifted students provides additional opportunities beyond the regular education program. Opportunities require authentic research, problem solving, application of skills, and the sharing and comparing of final products with gifted students beyond our own school district.
Participating and completing a task within the gifted education program will enable the student to develop the skill and perseverance, while striving for excellence. These qualities will not only foster success in school, but also will contribute to the world beyond the classroom walls, which is the ultimate goal of any quality educational program.
