Hello Governor Mifflin families,

Today, Governor Tom Wolf signed an order that will keep Pennsylvania schools closed through the remainder of our academic year. While this news is sad, this was not unexpected. As we have developed our online planned learning and strategies during this shutdown, we have done so recognizing that the return to school this school year was not promised and we are prepared to continue with our current online activities and procedures.

In May, our school board will finalize our 2019-2020 district calendar to officially establish our last school day relative to the disruption of the school year. At this point, we plan to move forward with our summer programming, like the Mifflin Summer Zone and ESY Program, depending upon the closures and restrictions still in place in the summer months.

We are committed to celebrating our seniors and the achievement of graduation. We will be working to finalize those plans. In the weeks ahead, we will also be working to remotely return to some of our day-to-day district operations that have been put on hold.

In closing, this is not the news we had hoped for, but it is news we are prepared for. I appreciate your perseverance and I am confident we can find ways to continue to make this school year meaningful and memorable for your family and our students. Please continue to do your part to stay home and keep our community healthy.

Sincerely,

Dr. Steve Gerhard
Superintendent
Governor Mifflin School District
