Hello Governor Mifflin families,

As we prepare to close out this most unique school year, I want to offer a few more details on our end-of-year activities.

Pick up/drop off of student items
As explained in my previous message sent May 18, we will host a curbside pick up/drop off for the delivery of student items from our schools and the drop off of school items that may currently be at home with your student. This event will be organized alphabetically so that families with multiple students can minimize the number of outings for this purpose.

For the sake of efficiency and in accordance with current social distancing guidelines, we kindly ask that you arrive for each pick up/drop off prepared. Please make sure that all of the items that you are returning to your child’s school (books, calculators, etc…) are placed in a bag prior to your arrival. Please place the bag on the passenger seat or in the trunk of your car so that our staff may retrieve these items easily. Chromebooks will not be collected, with the exception of seniors. We ask that you do not leave your car during this exchange out of respect for our staff members and social distancing guidelines. Your child’s principal will be reaching out with building-specific information in the coming days.

The schedule for pick up/drop off for all school buildings is as follows:

Monday, June 1: students with last names A – D; 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Tuesday, June 2: students with last names E – J; 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Wednesday, June 3: students with last names K – P; 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Thursday, June 4: students with last names Q – Z; 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Friday, June 5: Any students who were not able to attend their earlier scheduled day; 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Athletic equipment/uniform drop off
The Athletic Department will collect all spring sports equipment and uniforms and high school boys basketball uniforms during the day on Friday, June 5. Families should make sure equipment and uniforms are bagged and plan to drop off items at the Athletic Office/entrance to the Main Gymnasium at the high school (door 11) .

The schedule for dropping off athletic equipment and uniforms on June 5 is as follows:

9:00 a.m    HS Girls Track

9:30 a.m    HS Boys tennis

10:00 a.m. HS Girls Lacrosse

10:30 a.m. HS Boys Track

11:00 a.m. HS Baseball

11:30 a.m. HS Boys Lacrosse

1:00 a.m.   HS Softball

1:30 a.m.    HS Boys Basketball

3:00 a.m.   MS baseball

4:30 a.m.   HS Cheerleading

We understand that during these events, it may be tempting to want to linger and chat with those who you have not seen since March. Please be mindful that we are still required to follow state guidelines and avoid large gatherings and so we will ask that you remain in your vehicles and leave campus after you have completed your pick up/drop off of items.

Summer Lunch
Beginning Monday, June 1, we will transition into our Summer Lunch program. We will continue to offer free breakfast and lunch at Cumru Elementary for any child age 18 and younger. Summer lunch will be served weekdays throughout the summer (excluding July 4). The hours for this meal service will be 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

I want to once again thank you for your work, support, and collaborations over what will be 11 weeks when we end our school year on Friday. And while we don’t yet know what next fall will bring, we will share with you more information as we have a clearer picture of the school year ahead.

I wish you all a safe and healthy summer!

Sincerely,

Dr. Steve Gerhard
Superintendent
Governor Mifflin School District
