Hello Governor Mifflin School District Families,

Last evening, our School Board voted 8-1 in favor of a plan to reopen our Governor Mifflin schools for the start of the 2020-2021 school year. This plan is available on our district website and will be reviewed and adjusted as needed throughout the school year.

At this time, we are asking all Governor Mifflin families to register and share their intentions for their student(s) to attend either in-person or online for the start of the 2020-2021 school year. Please complete either the In-Person registration form or the Enhanced Online registration form below by August 10.

We understand that this is an important decision and so we have provided some resources for your review and some summary points to consider.

Key Points of our In-Person Option:

  • The reopening plan is a full, five-day-per-week opening of all GMSD schools.
  • Masks will be required for all students and staff to enter any GMSD school/building.
  • The school board also voted to move the first day of school to August 31, 2020 and elementary start times will be moved to 9:15 a.m.
  • In addition to the full reopening, GMSD will provide an enhanced online learning option for families who wish to continue remote learning.

You can review the full reopening plan by clicking here.

Key Points of our Enhanced Online Learning Option:

  • This online program will be taught by Governor Mifflin teachers with a combination of synchronous and asynchronous learning, more structured and rigorous than in the spring.
  • Families should plan to enroll for a full semester or trimester with the option to return at the end of each semester or trimester.
  • Online options will be available for any GM student K-12.
  • GM curriculum will be used, with options for high-level or AP courses

You can review details of the Enhanced Online Learning Option by clicking here.

Again, we ask that you make your decision for in-person or online learning by August 10, 2020 and complete the appropriate form by that date.

Regardless of your choice on these forms, we will still be asking all families to complete the online back-to-school update in Skyward beginning August 21. More information on that update through Skyward will be sent in the coming days.

We will continue to provide regular communications and updates leading up to the start of the school year on August 31. In the meantime, we thank you for your cooperation and participation in the work that we need to do to provide options and safely reopen our schools.
