Hello Governor Mifflin families,

As an integral part of our district’s Health and Safety Plan communications protocol, we provide the following advisory. Today, we learned that a staff member at Governor Mifflin Intermediate School has tested positive for COVID-19.

Here are the facts regarding this case that are appropriate to share:

  • The staff member developed symptoms on Friday, September 11 and was sent home. The staff member has not been on campus since that date.
  • The district was made aware of the test results late on the night of September 15.
  • The Department of Health has confirmed that no additional staff members or students were considered to be in close contact with the affected individual and therefore no additional quarantine or outreach is required with this case.

In following our protocols, our district administrators have consulted with the PA Department of Health to provide immediate assistance in completing contact tracing. As a reminder, and per the PA Department of Health, close contact is considered interaction between two or more individuals in a space less than 6 feet apart for more than 10 minutes. The PA Department of Health confirmed that the district is able to have these measured responses due to the cleaning and masking protocols currently in place as per our Health and Safety Plan.

We appreciate your continued support throughout this school year and remind all families that we must continue Daily Health Screenings as outlined in our Health and Safety Plan. We also ask that you remain cautious and limited in your interactions outside of school hours. We remain firm in our commitment to keep all of our families informed and we ask that you continue to do the same so that we can make informed decisions regarding the safety of all who enter our buildings.
