This evening our scheduled monthly school board meeting was abruptly cancelled as a member of the audience refused to comply with our district’s masking policy. This person was asked repeatedly by our school board president, solicitor, and school police officer to put on a mask that complied with our district mask mandate. Our school police officer offered a disposable mask and it was refused and the resident refused to leave the meeting when asked. This situation caused a disruption to our meeting and the refusal of this resident to leave the meeting prompted our board to adjourn tonight’s meeting before beginning the agenda.

Tonight’s school board meeting will be rescheduled and the date will be made public via our district website. All school board meetings are streamed live for anyone who does not want to comply with our district policies and procedures.

As a district, we respect the right for members of our public to disagree with school procedures. However, tonight’s display was beyond a peaceful or respectful protest, it was a blatant disregard for our district’s policies and disrespect for our school board. We cannot and will not allow that type of behavior to disrupt the business of our schools.
