Dear Governor Mifflin School District Community,

As we come to the end of a very challenging week in Mustang Nation, we would like to take this time to give our community an update on the events of the past two weeks as well as share where we are headed in the week to come.

First and foremost, we would like to confirm that we do not have any additional information regarding the tragic event which took place on Monday, March 14, 2022. We can confirm, however, that the event which took place does not have any direct connection to Governor Mifflin High School and that there is no direct threat to our district or students.

As stated in our message from last week regarding the safety protocols put in place at the high school, these procedures have been implemented out of an abundance of caution and would be subject to review and amended by school and district administration based on need. At this time, we will be revising our protocols for the upcoming week. A separate communication will be sent to parents of high school students to relay these revisions in detail.

Most importantly, we would like to thank our community for their grace, understanding, and compassion during this time both to administration and to one another. While brought on by a tragic event, over the course of this week we have seen an unparalleled level of care being demonstrated in Mustang Nation and a strong desire to unite our community.

We especially want to thank the one-hundred individuals who came to our Governor Mifflin Community Partnership meeting last night. We were so proud to see our community coming together to have meaningful conversations and develop action steps we can all take to bolster belonging and make Mustang Nation a place where everybody feels welcome, accepted, and supported.

As we move forward and begin to heal as a community, we encourage all of the incredible individuals which make up Mustang Nation to continue the positive momentum we have seen this week. We are all responsible for leading the charge towards a better Governor Mifflin community and this week we have made tremendous progress towards that goal.

Thank you,

Governor Mifflin School District
