Dear GMSD Community,

As we continue to monitor COVID-19 conditions in our community, we are optimistic with the recent declining numbers that have been reported for students and staff.

Based on these declining numbers within our schools, we will be discontinuing contact tracing and district assigned quarantining.  Any students or staff currently quarantined, should complete their quarantine before returning to school.  The district’s revised exclusion guidelines can be found on the district’s COVID-19 web page.  At this time our district continues to mandate masks for all students, staff, and visitors.  The school board will be voting on revisions to the health and safety plan at their special meeting on Tuesday, February 22, 2022.  The district will send out a communication following Tuesday night’s meeting to communicate any revisions to the district’s health and safety plan.

Staff and families are asked to please continue using the GMSD COVID Hotline (610-775-1461, ext. 7113) to report positive cases and ask questions. The district’s COVID Dashboard will continue to reflect the positive cases reported among students and staff at each district location.

As we remain committed to keeping students in school, we ask for your continued partnership. Anyone who does not feel well should remain at home and get tested. Additionally, we will continue our mitigation efforts and cleaning procedures to keep our schools safe.  We are optimistic that the current decline in positive cases in our community will continue. Thank you for all that you’ve done and continue to do to help keep our students and staff safe and in school.

Sincerely,
Bill McKay
Superintendent
Governor Mifflin School District
