Early Dismissals:
Girls Tennis – 2:20 p.m.

The Governor Mifflin Ping Pong Club will be holding its first meeting this Thursday immediately after school in the cafeteria.  If you like high-intensity and crave the thrill of victory, don’t miss this meeting.  Contact Mr. T Kurtz with any question.

If you are in 10th, 11th or 12th grade and need help making a career decision, then think about the ASVAB.  The ASVAB Career Exploration Program can help you take steps toward finding a career that is right for you.  If you are considering the military following high school, you should definitely take the ASVAB.  The ASVAB will be administered here at Governor Mifflin High School on Tuesday, October 17.  The test is FREE, but you must pre-register.  To register for the exam, please see Mrs. Phillippi in the counseling office by October 6.  If you have questions on whether or not the ASVAB is right for you, please speak to your counselor.

Attention Seniors! Mr. Alvarez and Mr. Yount would like to thank you for your consideration to participate in the Senior Mentorship opportunity presented to you on Monday. The interest form has been emailed to your “gostangs” account and will be available to you until the end of the day today. If you did not receive the email, have questions, or need more time to complete the form, please speak to Mr. Alvarez and Mr. Yount. Thanks again for answering the call to serve!!

JUNIORS & SENIORS:  Lafayette College will be in the counseling office today at 11:15 a.m.  St. Joseph’s University will be here at 10:30 a.m.

Come show your support for our football team this Friday night against Exeter – theme for the game is BLACKOUT.  If you need a black shirt – stop by the school store this week – black tee shirts on sale for $5.00!!

Have you signed up for the Governor Mifflin Retro Run yet? This first-of-its-kind fun run and walk is like Throwback Thursday times a thousand. Get your friends and family together. Invite your teachers. Dress for your favorite decade and then get ready! The 2.6 mile course will take you through five of our Governor Mifflin Schools and is the ONLY time running in the halls will be encouraged. Join us for this fun Mustang Nation event that is part of our district-wide homecoming celebration on October 21. Register before October 7 to get a cool throwback Mifflin t-shirt and lanyard. There will be a meeting for all GMbassadors this Thursday morning at 7:15 am in the LRC. Hope to see everyone there.

Due to increased open gym turn out, please follow the below times effective Monday Sept 18th :
– all 9th & 10th graders interested in boys basketball report to gym (listed on hand out) 6:00 to 7:45
– all 11th & 12th graders interested in boys basketball report to gym 7:15 to 9:00

Hola! Spanish club is having their first official meeting on Tuesday, September 26th at 3pm in room 215.  Hope to see you there! Gracias.

SADD Club will holds its first meeting of the year on Tuesday, September 26 in room 254 immediately afterschool at 3:00.  Please see Mrs. Leibowitz if you have any questions or cannot attend the meeting.  Hope to see you there!!

Do you want to learn to improve your focus, lessen stress, and understand how your brain functions? Improve your academic performance through “Connecting Mindfully,” an 8-week series led by an expert in positive psychology. This series is brought to you by the Mifflin Community Library and the Youth and Philanthropy Fund of the Berks County Community Foundation. There is no charge to attend. Sessions for students will take place in the GMHS library from 5:45-6:45pm tonight (9/20). Please see Ms. Brumbach for more information.

SENIORS:  Please do not request transcripts through Naviance until you have actually completed your application to the college.  If you have any questions about this process, please stop in the counseling office and speak with your counselor or Mrs. Phillippi.

Anyone interested in joining stage crew this year, please come to our first meeting, tonight (9/20) , from 3:15-6, in the auditorium.  Stage Crew includes all areas of theatre production including lighting, sound, scenic, painting, props, costumes, makeup, hair, selling tickets, concessions, and ushering. If you cannot stay for the meeting, but are interested in joining, please stop by just to sign the roster and pickup information.

PSATs will be administered on Wednesday, October 11 during the school day. Any JUNIOR wishing to take the PSAT should see Mrs. Phillippi in the Counseling Suite to sign up. Cost is $20.00 – cash or check made payable to GMHS. The deadline to register is September 27.

Students interested in participating in the Global Scholars Program should plan on attending one of the following meetings after school in room 215:
– 9th and 10th graders will meet on Monday, September 18th OR Tuesday, September 26th.
– 11th and 12th graders will meet on Monday, September 25th OR Thursday, September 28th.
We will review the requirements for the program at this time, fill out necessary paperwork and answer any questions you may have!  Please plan on attending if you are interested!

The first Gay Straight Alliance club meeting will take place today (9/20) at 3pm, in Room 225.  All students are welcome to attend and take part in a safe, friendly atmosphere for discussion and interaction.

The first Reading Olympics meeting of this year will take place today (9/20/) at 3pm in the Library. Please see Ms. Brumbach if you cannot attend.
