WELCOME TO MIFFLIN PARK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Governor Mifflin’s newest K-4 school, Mifflin Park Elementary, was constructed in response to population growth throughout the district. Construction began in the fall of 2007 and was completed in August 2009. It serves the residents that live south of Lancaster Avenue and southeast of Cedar Top Road.

Mifflin Park Elementary provides a modern, safe and environment-conscious instructional facility for up to 550 students. With three stories comprising 79,000 square feet, Mifflin Park holds 23 regular classrooms. It also houses special education rooms, a gymnasium with a stage and bleacher seating, music and art rooms and a library. There are designated rooms for services such as occupational therapy, Response to Intervention and other special functions. The elementary school accommodates small and large group instruction, and movable partitions allow fourth grade classrooms to open up for team-teaching. Special instructional planning centers provide areas for teachers to prepare their lessons and activities.

As with all district buildings, Mifflin Park is outfitted with Wi-Fi, allowing for wireless Internet access throughout the building. Additionally, each classroom is equipped with a digital projector system and built-in white boards. The building’s security system includes indoor and outdoor security cameras and card readers at access doors. For the safety of our students, public entry into the building occurs through the building’ s main office via a call button.

Outside, Mifflin Park Elementary is just as modern and functional as the inside. The building design features a “green” roof comprised of a thin layer of soil and plant growth on top of a finished roof. The system increases energy efficiency by providing additional insulation for the building. The “green” roof also makes use of rainwater, thereby reducing storm water runoff on the site. An outside amphitheater, directly accessible from the multipurpose room via a roll-up door, is outfitted with theatrical lighting that allows students to put on performances day or night. Throughout the design and construction process, architects, contractors and administrators worked together to meet tough standards in sustainability, energy efficiency, and low environmental impact to make Mifflin Park Elementary a LEED Silver certified building.

In order to maintain a safe, secure learning environment for all students, expectations regarding behavior and disciplinary action and consequences must be established and defined clearly.  In the event disciplinary action must be taken, school district policy provides guidelines for appropriate disciplinary action.

Mifflin Park has established four expectations everyone should abide by while in our school.  These expectations include:

  • Being Responsible

  • Being There/Being Ready
  • Following Directions

These expectations should be demonstrated by all people who are in the building and are expected across all settings.

School hours for students: grades K-4 – 8:45 a.m. – 3:20 p.m.

School office hours:
School In Session – 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Summer Hours – 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Mon.-Fri. (June & August), 7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Mon.-Fri. (July)
