The spring Keystone testing will begin during the week of May 13, 2019 for all students currently enrolled in Algebra I, Grade 10 English, and/or Biology.

*IMPORTANT: On the days of the Keystone Literature Exam (May 13 and May 14, 2019) and the Keystone Biology Exam (May 15 and May 16, 2019), GMHS will run on a two-hour bell delay schedule for students NOT participating in testing. On the days of the Keystone Algebra Exam (May 20 and May 21, 2019), the high school will run on a normal bell schedule. The number of students taking the Algebra exam is much lower than the Literature or Biology exams; therefore, we can accommodate one module-a-day testing for that exam without running a two-hour delay. On the two-hour delay testing days, participating students will report at the regularly scheduled time and go directly to homeroom (7:35 a.m.) for specific testing information. The district WILL provide transportation for any student coming to school at the regularly scheduled time. Students that cannot provide their own transportation for the two-hour delay, will report to school at the regularly scheduled time and be directed to study hall during the testing period. District transportation WILL NOT be provided for students arriving for the two-hour delay.

*TIME: There are two modules for each test. Students will be taking one module each day of their exam. These end-of-course tests are approximately 90 minutes in length for each module. The exams are not timed; so, all students will receive extended time, if needed.

*TESTING MODE: Most students will be taking the Keystone Exams online through a secure assessment portal provided by PDE,                   the Pennsylvania Department of Education. The test can only be accessed from the school’s network.

*SCORES: Results for the spring Keystone Exams will be available to the district on or approximately June 30, 2019. Upon receipt of these scores, students who did not show proficiency may be scheduled to retake the exam during the summer of 2019.

*GRADUATION REQUIREMENT: As required by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the class of 2022 and beyond is required to show proficiency on each of the three Keystone Exams to graduate. Any student that does not score proficient on any exam may be scheduled to retake it. Confirmation of all retakes are to be directed to Tony Alvarez, GMHS Associate Principal, at tony.alvarez@gmsd.org.

*REMEDIATION AND RETAKING EXAMS: It is important that all students understand the importance of these MANDATORY end-of-course exams. Students from the class of 2022 and beyond who are not proficient on any of the three assessments may be scheduled to retake the exam each opportunity that is available. Review sessions for students retaking the exam will take place in the Learning Resource Center (schedule provided below) from 3:00-4:00 p.m. Students are also invited to register for remediation via the Compass Learning program. If you are interested in this opportunity or would like to learn more about Compass Learning, please email Angela Dennis, GMHS RTII Specialist, angela.dennis@gmsd.org. Remediation opportunities and review sessions are free to GMHS students, and they do not need to sign up!
