Born and raised in Emmaus, PA, Mrs. Schoenen graduated from Emmaus High School. After graduating from Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree in home economics education, she landed her first teaching job at Wilson Southern Junior High School. Mrs. Shoenen later taught home economics at Manheim Township and finally at Governor Mifflin High School. While teaching, Mrs. Schoenen found that students seemed to feel comfortable sharing personal stories and issues while in her class. She decided that pursuing a master’s degree in secondary guidance would serve as an additional asset to teaching. Shortly after completing that degree from Kutztown University, a school counseling position became available at Governor Mifflin High School and Mrs. Schoenen has been here ever since!
Alongside co-adviser Mrs. Angela Dennis, Mrs. Schoenen guides the high school GMbassadors program, which engages students as good will ambassadors for the high school. In 2015, Mrs. Schoenen also assisted in the launch of the Peer Mediation program at the High school.
Mrs. Schoenen and her husband reside in the Governor Mifflin district with their two sons, who both attend Governor Mifflin schools. In her time outside of school, Mrs. Schoenen enjoys supporting the activities that her family gets involved in. She can be found supporting all kinds of Mifflin activities, as well as taking classes at the gym, bike riding, reading and being creative in the kitchen.
