GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS: Community Programs

Individuals (Patrons, Participants, Lifeguards, and Supervisors) should complete a personal health assessment daily.

  • If your temperature is 100.4 or higher, individual is showing symptoms or is sick, stay home.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing.
  • Adhere to school adopted plans if you begin to show symptoms.

Regularly and thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

  • Make sure to emphasize to all participants the importance of washing hands or using hand sanitizer before, during, and after facility usage.

Schools are recommended to ensure that your facilities have been properly sanitized and have hand sanitizer and disposable masks readily available for practices and contests.

Social distancing of at least 6 feet should be maintained at all times, where feasible.

o Individuals are required to wear face coverings in accordance with the Secretary of Health’s order on July 1st, 2020.

  • Everyone must wear a face covering, such as a mask, while in the facility and until the individual is the water.
  • Patrons are not required to wear face coverings while actively engaged in workouts and activities that prevent the wearing of face coverings, but must wear face coverings when on the pool, in the locker room facility, etc. and anytime 6 feet of social distancing is not possible.

Middle School Water Polo Clinic

The Middle School Water Polo Clinic is design to generate interest in the sport, while encouraging participation and developing well-rounded water polo players. This Clinic is for students entering 5th-8th grade.

Guidance Applicable to All Sporting Events

Recommendations for ALL LEVELS of junior and senior high athletics.

  1. Athletes, Coaches, and Staff will be subject to a COVID- 19 health screening prior to any practice, event, or team meeting. The type of screening will be dependent upon the available resources and the Phase level. The purpose is to check for signs and symptoms of COVID-19. The screening process could range from a questionnaire to a temperature check. (see appendix A).
  2. Parents/guardians will have access to the GM COVID-19 health questionnaire so to perform at-home screenings of their student athletes prior to any on-campus events. At-home screenings are highly encouraged to be performed before any sporting event, both on and off campus.

  3.  All participants will promote healthy hygiene practices such as hand washing (20 seconds with warm water and soap), using hand sanitizing stations, and practicing social distancing as per state and local guidelines.
  4. Face masks will be used as per local/state government requirements. Face masks will not be required of athletes while training or competing so as to prevent any further respiratory illnesses or issues. The use of face coverings is recommended to help decrease potential exposure to COVID-19 respiratory droplets by an infected individual.
  5. GMSD’s COVID-19 task force will include the custodial and maintenance staff for scheduled cleaning, disinfecting and proper ventilation during all athletic activity.
  6. Activities that increase the risk of exposure to saliva must not be allowed, including; chewing gum, spitting, licking fingers and spitting sunflower seeds.
  7. Avoid shaking hands, fist bumps or high fives before, during or after games and practices. Limit unnecessary physical contact with teammates, other athletes, coaches, officials and spectators
  8. ALWAYS encourage social distancing through increased spacing, small groups and limited mixing between groups when able.
  9. Whenever possible, equipment and other personal items should be separated and not shared. If equipment must be shared, all equipment should be properly disinfected between use when possible.
  10. Anyone who is sick MUST stay home. As stated previously, parents and athletes should refer to the GM athletics COVID-19 questionnaire sheet as an at-home guide to determine ahead of time whether or not an athlete should attend school/sporting events.
  11. Any person with positive symptoms reported will not be allowed to take part in workouts, practices or games and should immediately contact his or her primary care provider or another appropriate health-care professional. A clearance note from an appropriate health-care professional will be required in order to return to normal sport activity, regardless of illness diagnosis.
  12. GM staff will regularly communicate and monitor developments with local authorities, employees, and families regarding cases, exposures, and updates to policies and procedures
  13. Athletes and coaches MUST provide their own FILLED water bottles for hydration during athletic activity. Water bottles may not be shared.
  14. PPE will be used by essential staff as per local/state government requirements.
  15. Identify Staff and student athletes who may be at a higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19 due to underlying medical conditions (See – CDC “People who are at a Higher Risk for Severe Illness”).
  • By reservation only, and facility capacity cannot exceed 35 individuals.
  • A sign-up genius will be utilized on the GM Aquatic webpage to schedule daily pool usage.

      • Clinic cost will be $5 per clinic night, or $15 for all three nights.
        • Payment will be made the night of the clinic. We accept cash, check or money order. If paying by check or PO please make payable to GMSD.
      • Dates: October 14th, 21st, and 27th
      • Time: 7:30-9:00 pm
  • Athletes will enter and exit through the rear pool door.
  1. Athletes will take a health screening prior to entering the facility.
  2. Athletes will be required to wear a mask as they enter and leave the facility.
  3. Athletes will be required to wear a mask as they move around the facility and while utilizing the restrooms.
  4. Athletes will arrive and leave in their suits. All personal belongs will be place in the bleachers at 6 ft apart to ensure social distancing.
