SERVICE LEARNING

PROJECT

Purpose: Our club serves the community and larger areas while learning about pertinent issues that affect our society. Through hands-on work, students gain an appreciation for service and the world around them.

Activities:
Our three main projects include the Halloween party for local children, the Homeless Sleep-out in February, and the Service Learning Trip. Once a year students and staff travel to unique American communities to provide service and learn about the culture. these trip occur during the summer or breaks from school, but take months to plan and coordinate. Previous places we visited include the Navajo Nation in Arizona, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah, Cheyenne River Reservation in South Dakota, the Sea Islands of South Carolina, Appalachia communities, horse-rescue farms, environmental areas on the Atlantic coast, and Habitat for Humanity organizations around the country.

Meetings: Meetings occur as we plan for the projects. Students may see the adviser for information.

Advisor:  Mr. Selbst

Student Activity Fee Policy

The activity fee for clubs is due by December 16, 2019.

In accordance with school policy, the Governor Mifflin School District has established a Student Activity Fee. The purpose of this fee is to offset costs associated with Governor Mifflin’s extracurricular programs. A one-time fee of $75 will enable each Grade 7-12 student to participate in an unlimited number of school athletic teams or other co-curricular activities during the school year. Families with multiple children shall pay a maximum of $225 in student activity fees for the school year. Students eligible for free meals will have the activity fee automatically waived and others who feel this fee is a financial hardship can call the Business Office to discuss installment payments or a possible reduction in the fee.

If payment is not received by the due date, the student will not be eligible to participate until payment is made. Please click here for a full list of payment options and additional information about this fee.

Questions about the activity fees or payment process?
