Our Mission:

The Governor Mifflin Sports Medicine staff will strive to provide every student-athlete with the most comprehensive, highest quality individual sports medicine health care available in a professional, efficient, compassionate and service-oriented manner. A diversified program of prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation will assure a positive healthy recovery experience, an improved quality of life, a safe return to full athletic participation and continued athletic success. We will work in coordination with the team sports medicine physicians and community health care providers (EMS, police, school nurses) to provide the best possible care to all participating student athletes.

Who are athletic trainers?

Athletic trainers (ATs) are highly qualified, multi-skilled health care professionals who render service or treatment, under the direction of or in collaboration with a physician, in accordance with their education, training and the state’s statutes, rules and regulations.  As a part of the health care team, services provided by athletic trainers include primary care, injury and illness prevention, wellness promotion and education, emergent care, examination and clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.

Making an appointment

GM in season athletes seeking evaluation or treatment of injuries should use the button below to sign up for an appointment to be seen by an Athletic Trainer.

Athletic Physicals

Physical examinations are required for any athlete wishing to participate in a school sponsored PIAA sport. Physicals must be certified on or after June 1 and are valid for the entire school year. If your physical is completed more than six weeks prior to the start of your sports’ season a re-certification must be completed. Physicals are offered by the Governor Mifflin School District prior to the start of each sports season. If student athletes opt to have a physical provided by the District during one of the four designated athletic physical dates, the physical is provided free of charge. Please check the District calendar as physical dates are announced throughout the year. Athletes may also opt to have a physical performed by a private physician. The physical forms as well as recertification forms must be completed electronically via PlanetHS using the links below. Student accounts are already created using their gostangs accounts. Student passwords are defaulted to “bigteams”.  Students should change their password immediately following their first log-in.  Parents must complete the online registration and link to the student’s accounts.
